In addition, over the years it has also become the most international, with the largest number of foreign players in its ranks. Almost 40% of the squad since 2007 is made up of players from different European and non-EU leagues.
Our current team is made up of Germans, English, Dutch and locals from different parts of the country (Santander, Toledo, Madrid, etc).
And we have people of all levels, and ages.
- From players that have started some years ago to players with international caps and European Championship medals.
- From younger players in their 20s to our eldest player, who at 62 is a symbol of youth and stamina.
But if you really want to know how we are, check out the video below that was created to celebrat the 50th Anniversary of Estudiantes.

What is our philosophy?
- We are an independent club, proud of its long legacy of great players and teams.
- We enjoy hockey, but do not die for hockey. There are no official trainings, but people are free to train with other teams.
- We love the after match as much as we like the competition. Usually, most of the team stays after each game for a round of beers.
- Everyone is welcome. We really enjoy people from all walks of life and all places. That is what makes Estudiantes so much fun.
- We fight every match like it was the last. Whomever wants to beat Estudiantes will have to sweat for it.
- There are no bosses, no hierarchies, no leaders. We are self-governed and free.
The other four hockey fields in Madrid are: Club de Campo (Club de Campo-Aravaca), DXT (Las Cruces-Aluche), Pozuelo HC (Valle de las Cañas, Pozuelo), Complutense (Sanse)
This makes hockey in Madrid a very familiar and cosy environment. Everyone and every team knows each other well, and the relationships are really good.
The hockey season in Madrid is divided in three parts:
1. Field Hockey Fall
(1st half) - from October to February
2. Indoor Hockey League
from February to April
3. Field Hockey Spring
(2nd half) - from April to June
We normally play on Satursday afternoon or on Sunday morning, usually in Somontes.
Estudiantes of Schoenstatt Hockey School
In 2021, the club leadership decided to create its junior section to guarantee the future of the club.
The main difference with other hockey academies in Madrid is that hockey is taught in English. The goal is for children to learn the language, while they enjoy their favourite sport.
This initiative is driven by the collaboration between the Colegio Nuestra Señora de Schoenstatt (CNSS) of Pozuelo and Estudiantes Hockey Club, the most international club of Madrid since 1969.
It is open to any boy or girl from 6 to 12 years old, regardless of level or school.
Available programs
Hockey Heroes (6-8 years old). Program to develop hockey superpowers like passing, dribbling or scoring goals. Also, they will learn supervalues such as teamwork, communication, and respect.
Hockey Quick Sticks (years old). They reinforce hockey basics and they work in new skills such as placement, plays, physical… All to assure better capacity to have fun and compete as a team.
Schedule and venue
Trainings will take place on Saturdays or Sundays from 10:00 to 12:00 at Colegio Nuestra Señora de Schoenstatt facilities at Camino de Alcorcón, 17, 28223 Pozuelo de Alarcón (parking close to the door).

Why choose hockey?

- It is a team sport that allows you to learn the value of teamwork.
- It has fewer injuries than other sports (soccer, basketball, rugby) due to less physical contact.
- It is a sport that can be practiced from 4 to 70 years old.
- You have a great chance of playing at a higher level as it is a sport with fewer people.
- There are many regional, national and international competitions that are easier to access than in other sports.
- It is the Spanish team sport with the most international successes, between the Olympic Games, the World Cups and the European Cups.
- The atmosphere is very familiar, since everyone knows each other and people’s attitude on and off the field is usually really polite.
